Each of these units are equipped with specialized equipment for the pre-hospital care of the sick and injured. This equipment includes cardiac monitors capable of recording and transmitting data to receiving hospitals. Dawson County EMS was recognized as “Service of the Year” for the State of Georgia in 2000 for their excellent pre-hospital care and customer service.
The division, in addition to responding to medical alarms – provides public education, blood pressure and blood glucose screenings, as well as medical pre-plans for businesses.

EMS Medical Director

Dr. Andy Ball is a full-time emergency physician, residency trained and Board certified in emergency medicine, with specialized training in pre-hospital care and aeromedical transport. He is also an active member of the National Association of EMS Physicians and a former flight physician and aeromedical transport medical director. As medical director of Dawson County's EMS system, Dr. Ball is responsible for medical oversight for pre-hospital care delivered to the citizens and visitors of Dawson County.

Dr. Ball's service with the Hall County Fire Department began in 1988 as a volunteer firefighter, and he has served in both the Fire and EMS arms of the department since. Continued field service is allowing him to live his dream of being both a doctor and a firefighter. Dr. Ball serves as the medical director for both Dawson and Hall County’s EMS.
