Baton & Dance

The Diamondettes Baton & Dance program teaches baton twirling, dance, and pageant coaching.  Classes are open for students of all ages and ranges of ability.

"Diamondettes" provides a fun and motivating environment for children, helping to challenge and encourage each to do their best. These programs are designed to meet the important need of physical activity and fun!

Clogging

Cachet Clogging:  Performance Clogging with a Touch of Southern Charm

Cachet, performance clogging with a touch of southern charm is taught by a local instructor, Ali Mahaffey, who has many years of experience in both competitive and performance clogging. Clogging is the new fun and easy way to exercise! Cardio exercise along with the building of strength and coordination are just a few of the things clogging offers! Clogging with a team like Cachet will also give you or your child an opportunity to meet new people and make new friends while experiencing something new and exciting. Classes are close and convenient and offered to dancers of any age and any level of difficulty.

Cachet Clogging offers Pre-Dance, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced clogging classes. Pre-Dance is a clogging class customized for younger children of ages 3-4. Beginner classes are for those who have never experience clogging and wish to learn the fundamentals of traditional and intermediate clogging. Intermediate classes are designed for those who have clogged before or are beginning to learn modern styles of clogging. Advanced classes focus on performance quality routines with hard challenging footwork where basic clogging techniques are required.

Swim Lessons

Lessons are for beginners to advanced swimmers. Participants are tested on the first day of class to determine class placement. The swim instructor will work one-on-one with each individual child. Instructors will work on breathing, floating, and safety on the first day. After a day of assessment, the participant will be placed in the appropriate class level. The goal is to make sure each participant is safe and comfortable in the water.  Please note: Parents do not need to get into the water.

Tai Chi

 


The Chinese Shaolin Centers of Atlanta are offering Tai Chi classes with Sifu Kenneth Jones at Rock Creek center in Dawsonville. This is the beginning level of the Internal Arts Program at the CSC Atlanta.

This Tai Chi program is an ongoing progression of classes. Students will develop at their own pace while learning new material as they grow. Some of the benefits from practicing Tai Chi include:  stress reduction; improved balance, strength, and flexibility, increased self-awareness and body sensitivity; joint pain reduction; learning a Martial Art.

ALL participants MUST complete a Medical History Form prior to participating.  Forms are available on location at first day of class, as well as, at Rock Creek main office.  Completed registration forms and first payment due at beginning of first class.  Contact Sifu Kenneth for a copy of these forms or for additional information.

Cardio/Core Power

Cardio/Core Power is a combination of the previously separate Cardio Power and Core Power classes.  This newly combined class will challenge you no matter what your fitness level.  This high energy, full-body workout is a great alternative to the gym setting.  Abdominal, lower back, mat-based Pilate, and Yoga poses will be incorporated into this class.  The class will work on strengthening and stretching those vital power houses, known as our core.  We will use the landscape at Veterans Memorial Park, our body weight, and/or resistance bands to achieve a full-body workout.  Please bring a mat and water.

ALL participants MUST complete a Medical History Form prior to participating.  Forms are available on location at first day of class, as well as at Rock Creek main office.

Couch to 5K

 

 

 

Couch to 5k Level 1 is for the BEGINNER or someone that is ready to restart a running/walking program to get in shape. This class will teach each person how to run a 5k while enjoying the experience of running. We will start  the process with walking and lightly jogging and work our way to the best pace each individual can do. Along with the walking and jogging, we will also do some core strength training that will improve walking/jogging endurance!!

Couch to 5k Level 2 is for people who walk/run casually but want to be more consistent.  Class will start out running/walking and finish out the session running.  Class may participate in walk/run 5k's during the session. 

ALL participants MUST complete a Medical History Form prior to participating.  Forms are available on location at first day of class, as well as at Rock Creek main office.

Stroller Strides®

 

 

Stroller Strides® is a total fitness program that moms can do with their babies. It includes power walking and intervals of body toning using exercise tubing and the stroller. Taught by certified instructors (who are also moms), it’s a great workout for any level of exerciser. The workouts are 1-hour. The cardio and strength segment is approximately 50-minutes, followed by 10-minutes of abs and/or stretching.

Please bring a stroller (any stroller will do as long as it is not prone to tipping), water, your baby, and a towel or mat for ground exercises. Mom needs to be at least 6 weeks post-partum (with physician’s clearance). Babies from 6 weeks up to any age as long as the enjoy a ride in the stroller.

ALL participants MUST complete a Medical History Form prior to participating. Forms are available on location at first day of class, at Rock Creek main office, and online.

Rock Creek Park Classes meet in the parking lot in front of the Rec. Center.  During inclement weather, class will be held indoors (gym).

Water Aerobics

Contrary to previous years, beginning May 2012, Water Aerobics participants must register directly through the instructor.

Yoga

Stretch and Strengthen Yoga      This class is a little yoga, a little gym, and some relaxation.  We will learn together how to safely do, and get the most out of, exercises that you can do at home.  Improve your body at your pace.  You can go full throttle, take the modifications I show you, or anywhere in between.  No judgments and no expectations.  Come as you are and take with you what you want.  SASY is a fun class for all ages and participants of all ages.  Send me an email with any questions.  Try one class and you’ll be hooked.  Please wear clothing that is not too baggy, bring a mat, hand towel and a bottle of water.

Senior Stretch     The less you move, the more susceptible you become to a variety of aches and pains…and the less happy you are. Feel better, increase your range of movement, balance, flexibility and put that smile back on your face. Join us for a stretch class designed for the more mature generation. Don't think you can stand on your feet for a whole class? Perfect. Can you run circles around your friends? Perfect, too. We offer many different options to accommodate where you are. This class is for ladies and gentlemen so sign up your better half or your best friend. Chairs, blocks, and straps will be provided for you to use. Bring along your exercise mat, a bottle of water, and a desire to feel young again. A signed Liability Waiver is REQUIRED for participation.   Ideal for those between 55 and 75.
