Charles Finley has written a history of the Dawson County schools for the Dawson County Retired Educators. He is a fifth-generation native of Dawson County and a fourth-generation teacher who has taught in the county for the past 41 years. The book is entitled Yesterday Once More: A History of the Old Schools of Dawson County. It has 250 pages filled with history, pictures, maps, and biographical sketches of Dawson County educators. Read about the fires that have plagued a number of Dawson County schools, the miracle that saved the “Rock School,” as well as information about “the Colonel.” The book is 8 ½ by 11 inches.
All profits from the book go to a scholarship fund for graduate students, as well as paraprofessionals, working in the Dawson County School System. The book sells for $30.00. To reserve your copy, contact Rebekah Oliver at 706-265-2076 or make your check payable to the Dawson County Retired Educators and mail to 6460 Highway 136 W, Dawsonville GA 30534. Thanks so much for your support.
