The Dawson County Fire/Rescue Division currently operates eight (8) stations providing service to the City and the County. Four of these eight stations are volunteer while the other four are combination stations that are staffed by both career and volunteer personnel. Our staff includes the Chief, Deputy Chief, Assistant Chief, twelve (12) full-time Firefighter/EMT-I personnel who work a 24-48 shift, manning four of the eight county stations on a daily basis. Our department also has 53 Volunteer Firefighters/First Responders who are vital to our organization. This division responds to all matters of fire suppression and rescue incidents, along with all medical assist calls received.

Training and Fire Prevention are also areas of emphasis for educating our citizenry on the dangers of fire, fire prevention, injury prevention, CPR and First Aid, disaster preparedness, conduction of safety surveys in local businesses, maintaining and testing all fire hydrants, and installing smoke detectors for the needy and elderly are only a few of the ways we are working to reduce the number of fires, injuries and losses.

We also provide free blood pressure checks at our stations, participate in a Child Safety Seat inspection and distribution program and partner with Safe Kids to do annual Bike Rodeos in each of the county elementary schools. In addition, last year our services expanded to include a K-9 Strike Team to assist in locating missing or overdue individuals.

Dawson County's current ISO rating is a Class 6-10 and the City of Dawsonville is a Class 4-10.
