Dawson County Parks & Recreation's primary mission is to create a fun, safe, and nurturing environment for which people of all ages can grow, benefit, and enjoy the quality of life through diverse recreational and leisure opportunities.
The Parks & Recreation Division offers a variety of facilities for those who like to take advantage of the passive recreational activities. Amongst our locations, you will find indoor facilities, used for birthday parties and reunions, as well as, playgrounds and a swimming pool.
The overall growth of Dawson County can be seen in the growing numbers of participants in each of the athletic programs offered. From youth soccer to adult co-ed softball, the list of athletic programs offered grows each year.
The opening of the Rec. Center in 2005 has resulted in the implementation of many new programs, such as aerobics and ballroom dance classes.
The Parks & Recreation Department currently does not offer online services for Facility Rentals; however, this is something we are actively working towards for the near future. Online registration is now available for most all of the Athletic programs and many of the classes offered by the Parks & Recreation Department. The growth in the department is leading us into the direction of many online services involving schedules, registration, and team standings.
Beginning in 2008, the Parks & Recreation Department developed an information guide, which is mailed out to Dawson County residents. This annual publication allows residents to browse thru the many activities, programs, and services offered by the Parks & Recreation Department without having to leave home. Dawson County residents received their mailed copy of the 2010 Parks & Recreation Guide early-December 2009; however, it also available for online viewing. Additional copies are also available at Veterans Memorial Park and Rock Creek. |
