DAWSON COUNTY GOVERNMENT EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Job Title:  Firefighter/Paramedic & Firefighter/EMT
Department:  Dawson County Fire & Emergency Services
Salary:  $52,313.16 Annually (plus $2 per hour med unit incentive) for Paramedic; $46,833.00 Annually for EMT
Status:  Full-Time/Hourly/Non-Exempt

Job Summary:
​Perform a variety of emergency operations and paramedic duties to protect lives and property in simultaneous fire suppression, search and rescue, patient care activities and assure that all emergency equipment remains ready at all times to respond to emergency and non-emergency situations. 

Job Requirements:
All applicants must be at least 18 years of age; possess a high school diploma or GED.   Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.  A valid Class E or F driver’s license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), good verbal and written communications, have some knowledge of applicable state laws and county ordinances, and ability to communicate with the public on a daily basis.  Applicant must be able to pass all in-house testing requirements and a Physical Agility Test along with a Background Check and Drug Screen.  In addition to the above, see below for additional requirements specific to Paramedic or EMT:

Paramedic:
-Georgia State Paramedic License
-Georgia State Certified Firefighter (NPQ I & II preferred)
-Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification
-Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification
-At least six months Paramedic experience is preferred

EMT:
-Emergency Medical Technician Certification (EMT-I or EMT-A)
-NPQ Firefighter I
-EMT-B will be considered with an option to obtain EMT-A within one year of employment
