Keep Dawson County Beautiful is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and Keep Georgia Beautiful. Founded in 2003, KDCB is comprised of a 7-member board of directors representing Dawson County, its citizens, and businesses.

Our Focus: Keep Dawson County Beautiful focuses on bringing meaningful change to our environment through quality of life services including litter prevention, solid waste planning and coordination, environmental education, beautification, and conservation.

Our Mission: Encourage citizens to take greater responsibility in the beautification of Dawson County.

KDCB Member Meetings

Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m. at the Extension Office. 298 Academy Avenue, Dawsonville, GA. Meetings are always open to the public. (There will be no regular June, July, November or December meeting).

Rock Creek Park Conservation Plan

The Rock Creek Park Conservation Plan is to clean and restore the natural flow of the creek, address erosion control along the banks, and help eliminate overflow and flooding issues in the park.  The Plan is broken into phases. Phase I, in 2015, was a huge success thanks to many volunteers. Phase II was completed in 2017.

Ways You Can Get Involved

Adopt-A-Mile is a community engagement program developed by KDCB and Dawson County Community Development and Public Works to clean up and remove litter and signs from county roadways.  You, your club, civic group or business can keep Dawson County beautiful by joining the Adopt-a-Mile Program. As part of this program, you agree to remove trash from a single, mile-long stretch of road on a quarterly basis.

Arbor Day Celebration - in conjunction with the Tree Preservation Committee

Christmas Tree Recycling  ("Bring One for the Chipper") is a once-a-year community engagement event that provides a convenient collection site for the recovery and reuse of Christmas trees.

Classroom Presentations are educational programs that serve as demonstrations of KDCB-prepared lesson plans about environmental issues.

Electronic Recycling Day/Paper Shredding is a biannual opportunity to bring your electronics to be recycled and papers to be shredded in an effective and safe manner.  Electronics are made with valuable, reusable materials. Please recycle your electronics so that steel, glass, plastic, and precious metals can be RECOVERED, RECYCLED and REUSED.

Enforcement Programs provide staff support and coordination with the Marshal's Office for environmental enforcement. The Marshal's Office is a clearinghouse for citizen complaints regarding litter, graffiti, illegal dumping, improper trash storage, etc. The Marshal's Office tracks complaint status, identifies hot spots for increased intervention, and conducts trend analysis. KDCB members can act as extra eyes and ears for the Marshal's Office by keeping watch for potential problems. For more information, please visit the Marshal's Office webpage.

Lake Lanier Shore Sweep in conjunction with the Lake Lanier Association

River Clean-up is a community engagement program, in conjunction with Etowah Water & Sewer Authority, designed to clean up and remover litter from local river banks and rivers.

Tire Amnesty Day offers the residents of Dawson County a “FREE” opportunity to dispose of vehicle tires at Dawson County Transfer Station.

Recycling and litter prevention is a positive way individual citizens and families can help keep a clean and inviting environment for our community.
