From downtown Dawsonville, take Shoal Creek Road for 0.5 mile. Turn right onto Burt Creek Road. The Transfer Station will be 0.75 miles ahead on the right.

Transfer Station: 7:00-5:00 Monday- Saturday

Recycling Center: 7:00-5:00 Tuesday-Saturday (CLOSED ON MONDAY)

   What to know before your visit

  • Dawson County Residents Only - Be prepared to present ID - All others will be turned away
  • No Commercial trash
  • Household garbage must be bagged
  • No dumping on the floor. Unload by hand in trash bins

    All loads are subject to search

  • NO hazard or liquid waste
  • NO refrigerators, freezers or AC units with refrigerant
  • NO paint
  • NO yard waste or debris
  • NO propane tanks
  • NO animals or animal waste 

 

Recycling

Dawson County offers FREE Multi-Stream Recycling. Recyclables must be clean and kept separate from household waste.

ALL RECYCLABLES MUST BE SEPARATED BEFORE ARRIVAL!

Accepted Recyclable Items:   

  • Batteries: Car batteries                                                                                                                                         
  • Aluminum: beverage cans
  • Cardboard: flattened cardboard- must be corrugated to be accepted as cardboard 
  • Motor Oil
  • Plastics #1, #2(color) and (natural) (Please check the bottom of the bottle)                                                                                      

Unaccepted Recyclable Items:

  • Aerosol or spray cans of any kind; (should be discarded as hazardous waste, not with the garbage or recyclables.)
  • Baby Diapers
  • Ceramics and Pottery: flower pots, ceramic dishes,
  • Coated Cardboard: soiled cardboard, soiled pizza boxes, wax or plastic coated paper of any kind.
  • Electronic Devices: cellphones, computer monitors and parts, etc...
  • Food-soiled items: take-out containers, aluminum foil, pizza boxes, food containers, etc...
  • Household Glass: drinking glasses, light bulbs, mirrors, window panes, Pyrex dishes, etc... 
  • Hypodermic Needles
  • Lithium Batteries
  • Packaging materials:  polystyrene (Styrofoam)
  • Paint cans, gasoline or kerosene cans.
  • Paper Towels, Tissue Paper or Toilet Paper
  • Photographs
  • Plastic: Any type of recycling that has NO number for recycling.
  • Wet paper. 
  • Wax containers: milk and juice cartons, fruit boxes, any containers that have been coated with a thin layer of wax.
