Training Division

The Training Center, located at Fire Station 7, is a modern facility with classrooms and office space for the training staff, burn building/ training tower, Firefighter safety and survival structure, flammable liquids and pressurized container training, along with a drafting pit.

Fire Chief Troy Leist, Division Chief of Operations/Training Johnny Irvin and Division Chief of EMS/Administration Justin Mitchell and other assigned staff, coordinates all instruction for DCES personnel in the areas of fire suppression, basic and advanced emergency medical care, technical rescue, and hazardous materials. All training is delivered from an "all hazards" approach.

The training division is charged with insuring that our Firefighters / EMT's and Paramedics are not only trained to do their jobs properly, but trained in compliance with all local, state, and national requirements, including Georgia State Requirements, National Professional Qualification (NPQ), National Registry of EMT’s (NREMT), Insurance Services Office, Driver's License, NIMS compliance, promotional requirements, and more.

Each year personnel complete thousands of hours of training to ensure that skills are maintained and improved. All training is provided by the department, as well as through regionally delivered classes and through the Georgia Public Safety Training Center.

Community Training

First Aid, CPR, and Fire Extinguisher training classes are provided by the Fire Prevention Division.
