Commercial Construction

Commercial plans must be submitted to the Planning & Development Office.  Staff review time typically takes at least fourteen (14) work days.  Several County and local agencies perform a plan review as applicable to the project's scope.

All commercial permit applications must be complete with the required documents (listed on the application). A minimum review fee will be due at the first submittal; each subsequent review to address comments may be assessed as an additional review fee.  Staff encourages plan designers to discuss the project details with all reviewers before submission.

Sprinkler, Fire Alarm, and Kitchen/Hood Suppression System Plans are accepted on behalf of the Dawson County Fire Department; a PDF of the plans, a Commercial Permit Application, and a review fee of $400.00 are due at the time of submittal.  Currently, the plans are reviewed by a private (Safebuilt) consultant.

The review staff meets (via Zoom) each Thursday to review comments; two weeks after the submittal, comments are typically available for plans on or before that time.
